Evergreen Adventure Camp

Campers aged 6-14 venture out exploring the greener side of Toronto’s ravine systems in the heart of the Lower Don Valley!

Campers in nature at the Brick Works

Adventure Camp registration opens on January 31st at 9am!

Evergreen’s Adventure Camp offers one and two-week camp programs focusing on nature exploration and nature connection through inquiry-based outdoor play and learning. Campers aged 6–14 will get up close and personal with nature through new discoveries and adventures in the urban wild.

With more nature than any other city of its size in North America, Toronto offers young naturalists and campers alike an ideal and unique opportunity to uncover the wilderness that lies within our ravine systems in the Lower Don Valley!

Our Adventure Camp activities will invite campers to develop new relationships with their peers and the natural world as they spend each day building with natural materials, exploring habitats and trails, identifying plants and animals, sharing stories and ideas, crafting with clay and natural materials or maybe even observing the resident beaver in the quarry!

Our camp programs are designed to inspire a new generation of environmental stewards as we strongly believe in the power of outdoor play and how that activates the body and the mind.

FAQs

Where can I park?

Evergreen offers a free parking window in all parking lots from 8:45-9:15am and 3:30-3:45pm every weekday during summer camp. Those registered for extended after care will receive a separate parking pass.

Your parking passes will be shared with you via email approximately one week prior to your camp session. We strongly recommend printing your parking passes to avoid being ticketed during drop-off.

If parking outside those hours, you must pay at the meter. For our shuttle bus timings, please see here.

Can my camper be in the same group as their friend?

Building a fun, friendly and accepting group of campers is a key goal for Evergreen Adventure Camp, and we encourage all campers to build new friendships.

To ensure this, we accept friend requests only if the campers are in the same grade program and session, and we limit the requests to one per camper. Friend requests that are not in the same grade and session group will not be considered.

Please contact our camp office upon successful registration to write in your friend request as early as possible.

Please note, we are unable to guarantee friend requests.

What do you do in inclement weather?

We’re outside as much as possible! We love the outdoors at camp and spend as much time outside as we can. That being said, we do have access to indoor spaces at all times and can spend some time inside in extreme weather, such as thunder, lightning, hail, and extreme heat.

Please know that all campers will be strongly encouraged to carry full water bottles along on their adventures and camp counsellors will schedule hydration breaks on hot days.

My camper is too old for your camp. What other opportunities are there at camp for them?

We are always looking for volunteers to support our camp program and to grow our camp community! Please contact our camp office if you’re interested in volunteering.

We also have our LIT and Trail Blazers programs for campers ages 12-14. To learn more about our leadership programs, you can refer to our LIT & Trail Blazers PDF.

Is there an extended after care program?

Yes, we are pleased to offer an extended aftercare program from 3:30-5:30pm for an additional fee of $90/week or $18/day. Please contact our camp office for more information.

Do you have a Lost & Found office?

Our camp office is our lost and found office which is located in the alleyway by the Children’s Garden! See here for our map. Please contact our camp office if your camper has forgotten or lost any item at the Brick Works.

Please note, we strongly encourage campers to avoid bringing items deemed as valuable to camp. Evergreen is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Will campers be wearing masks outdoors?

No, however, all campers are highly recommended to wear non-medical masks in all indoor spaces, including washrooms. Please note that we are a mask-friendly space.

We ask you to pack extra non-medical masks or face coverings for your campers. We also have disposable masks available!

How will camp be kept COVID-19 safe for campers?

All campers must self-screen using this tool prior to arrival on site.

All campers are highly recommended to wear non-medical masks in all indoor spaces, including washrooms. Campers will be washing their hands routinely throughout the day with soap and warm water and/or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer when not close to washrooms.

Covered outdoor spaces will be prioritized for eating, however, eating may occur indoors due to inclement weather.

Will campers be screened daily?

All campers must self-screen using this tool prior to arrival on site. Please reach out to camp@evergreen.ca to notify the camp team should your camper stay home on account of feeling ill or sick.

What happens if a camper is sick during the program?

If a camper falls ill while at camp, they will be placed in an isolated area with camp staff. Caregivers will be contacted to pick up their camper immediately. The caregiver will be asked to take the child to a COVID-19 assessment center to be tested. If a negative result is confirmed the child will be allowed to return to camp once symptoms have resolved for 24 hours.

Please reach out to camp@evergreen.ca to notify the camp team should your camper be staying home due to feeling ill or sick.

What if my camper cannot attend camp due to COVID-19?

Unfortunately, refunds will not be issued for missed camp days.

What happens in the event Evergreen cancels camp due to unforeseen circumstances?

If Evergreen is forced to cancel camp, we will notify you via email. Refunds will be issued, however, 10% of camp fees will be retained as an administration fee. Evergreen retains the right to change our refund policy without notice to adapt to the evolving public health situation or other unforeseen circumstances.

My camper has an account credit. How can I use the account credit towards Adventure Camp?

Please contact our camp office if you’re interested in transferring your account credit towards Adventure Camp.

Do you offer a Learn-To-Ride Program?

Yes, campers who wish to stay back or are not yet ready for hitting the bike routes will be paired with our experienced bike camp counsellor who runs our Learn-to-Ride program. In this program, campers will gain confidence in pedaling, balancing and bike knowledge.

If your camper is not comfortable participating in our Learn-to-Ride program, they are welcome to partake in other activities such as arts and crafts or join another group.
