Junior and Senior Kindergarten

Animal Adventures: Join Evergreen Educators for a fun, participatory online adventure where we’ll use inquiry and observation to explore a variety of local animals and their basic needs! Through imaginative games and storytelling, we’ll celebrate nature and ignite your class’s inner sense of wonder, encouraging empathy towards one another and the natural world through sharing and reflection.

Grades One to Three

Nature Explorers: From towering oak trees housing sleeping creatures, to salmon swimming in our rivers, we are surrounded by living things! With curiosity as our guide, we’ll use math and literacy-based approaches to explore and learn about the habitats at our doorsteps. Students will get in touch with their own animal senses and play nature detectives on a virtual adventure as they seek out evidence of nature all around them and learn to care for the local environment!

Grades Four to Six

Everything is Connected: Everything in the natural world is connected by a myriad of relationships. This digital excursion is all about exploring these connections while fostering a sense of place and belonging. Find out how plants, insects, birds and humans share energy, habitats and are linked by complex and inspiring food webs and life cycles. Through a virtual hike, shared stories, and live polls and games, students will explore different perspectives on biodiversity and human impact while learning how they can help nature thrive.

Grades Seven to Eight

Water Ways: Creeks, wetlands, rivers and lakes are the source of life. Healthy watersheds are critical to biodiversity and impact all of us through the water we drink, grow our food with, bathe in and more. Learn about what makes for healthy watersheds, their origins and how we can all contribute to ensuring they remain healthy into the future. Join us as we push the boundaries of indoor virtual excursions in pursuit of watershed-based learning and share with students an inspiring vision for how they can care for their waterways and the life that inhabits them for future generations.

Grades Nine to Twelve

Designing for Climate Resilience: The impacts of climate change are being felt around the world. Addressing such a complex, global challenge can feel intimidating. By narrowing the scope and focusing on our local community, we can develop meaningful, practical strategies — and put them into action. In this program, we explore the potential for school grounds — one of our most familiar and vital public spaces — to help build climate resilient communities.

Using a design thinking approach, students collaborate to reimagine their school ground to adapt to the changing climate and meet the unique needs of their community. Students come away with a deeper understanding of the critical link between our shared environments and human wellbeing, and the tools to approach complex issues with confidence, empathy, and creativity.
